Climb with Erik Weihenmayer Contest Winner

The guy on the right is Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind climber to reach the summit of Everest. He’s a full bad ass, is very handsome and once touched a chicken. Actually, I’m not sure if the last one is true or not. The other guy is Jack C, the winner of our Climb with Erik Weihenmayer Contest.

On May 20th Jack and Erik set to climb Quandry Peak (14,265 ft) accompanied by 50 other individuals from Soilders to the Summit. Jack shared an email with us that he sent to everyone on the summit team.

Team,

Getting to the summit was only icing on the cake compared to all the great people I met, many of whom were truly inspiring. I never would have guessed that winning [a] Moosejaw contest and [traveling] from Michigan would be such a rewarding experience. I hope to see many of you on future hikes, climbs, and summits.

- Jack C.

Moosejaw Moving Co.

Great guest post today by Eric from Rochester:

“Erik Schuett has been a great customer in our shop for as long as I can remember, which equals about 3 years.  Schuett is a great customer and more importantly a great friend to everyone at the Rochester store.  He recently bought a new condo in the area and mentioned it to us here in the shop.  A few of us told him that we would be more than happy to help.

On the day of the move our entire staff showed up at his house in the back of the  Moosejaw Truck.  All he saw was Moosejaw truck outside of his house, thinking that we had confiscated the vehicle for the day. When he opened up the back of the truck the entire Rochester staff jumped out, shocking him and Onyx, his dog. From there we helped him move his belongings from his old house into his new one, we even helped him pick up his new furniture.

We felt that this was the least that we could do for such a great friend of everyone at Moosejaw.

Assistant Shop Manager at Rochester

2011 Winter Photo Shoot Completed

We had to travel to two states to get the ice and the altitude we wanted to shoot for the 2011 season. Great pic above of Jeff shooting above twelve-five in 60 mile-an-hour gusts. The team are nothing less than BAs.

Here’s a nice compilation of some random words; wind, burn, hazmat, no hot water, you have to leave here since you don’t have a permit, falling tree, my f–king finger.

Moosejaw Around the Interwebs

A little while ago we asked customers to send us their best rendition of a crying tomato. For some reason it struck a nerve and the  submissions came flooding in. You can see a few of them in the Madness Section here.

Turns out, the United States Post Office’s marketing magazine Deliver (I didn’t know they had one either) caught wind of it and ran a story in this months issue, custom clay figures and everything. Check it out here.

There was a very nice post by Carol Herder over at the Russell Herder blog about a few of the madness promotions that I’ve had the most fun with including French Kissing Service and Guess the Number of Sandwiches in Our Fridge.

And Internet Retailer featured our mobile site, which just added product video. Check out the write up here.

That’s all.

Moosejaw Frenching Service

Just before the New Year we let our customers know that Moosejaw would doing its part to make sure that no one would go without a kiss at midnight on December 31st.

The Moosejaw Frenching Service is designed to help those who can’t muster the courage themselves to ask the person they would like to french to do so. We were glad to help.

We made over 100 calls and, while we did get a number of voicemails, we’re sure we helped create a little new love for 2011.

It’s important work. That is until too many people end up in relationships. I’m hoping we’ll do our part then as well.

Check out what some others had to say about the Frenching Service:

Erica’s post over at The Urbane Way
Caroline McCarthy’s mention on tumblr.
Chiara’s post at How About We.
A nice mention over at something called Naked City

and a far too nice post by David Hauser at his blog.

Presenting the First Moosejaw MESS Award

Nick Rau is our first M.E.S.S (Moosejaw Extra Special Someone) winner. Check out the award ceremony below.

Nick is a FANTASTIC example of the Madness on a daily basis.  Everyone should take note and congratulate Nick on some great examples of Madness.

  • Threw an impromptu birthday party for a customer he knew was going to be in the store that day (their birthday)
  • Hand delivered a jacket to a customer during crazy football traffic by riding his bike to the custy’s house
  • Noticed posters about lost keys with a carabiner on them and contacted the person to replace it for free with a Moosejaw key biner.

All great stuff and all amazing examples of what Moosejaw madness is supposed to be about.

Nice work Nick.
