Just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I’m very impressed with your staff at the Birmingham, MI Moosejaw store.
After all of my online research, the decision of where to purchase my last couple of fairly major backpacking items – new tent & new boots – came down to either REI or Moosejaw. On the one hand, REI has a really forgiving return policy that allows you to fully test your new equipment before you commit to owning it; on the other hand, Moosejaw offers price-matching & regular coupon discounts, which make it considerably less expensive. So…financially, I pretty much considered it a draw.
The ultimate decision came down to my visits to the respective stores. I certainly don’t mean to bad-mouth them, but the sales staff at REI came off a bit pretentious, and I felt like I was bothering them by taking my time to try different models, ask loads of questions, etc. Everytime I visited Moosejaw, however, they were willing to take as much time as needed to give me solid advice, set up tents, try on boots, and answer all of my questions – even if I told them upfront I wasn’t ready to buy yet. Plus, they were playing some pretty bada$$ tunes.
Overall, the people at Moosejaw made my whole experience more comfortable, and that’s why I ended up buying my gear there.

Way to go Birmingham Staff. This email is exactly how every customer should think about Moosejaw and is a great reminder for every Moosejaw employee about the level of service every customer deserves.
